Man this is what gets me fired up! Sa Jae Hyouk, the BEAST 77kg lifter from Korea is making a come back! If you’re not familiar with Sa Jae Hyouk, he injured himself in the 2012 London games during the snatch:
He was expected to break the Olympic record clean and jerk (currently 207k) this round before his injuries. You can see from the 2010 worlds that if he managed to stay healthy, he would’ve easily broken an Olympic record:
Below is an interview about his comeback:
In the interview they were talking about how Sa Jae-Houk had 5 major surgeries for his knee, wrist, elbow, and few others but still looking to compete at a high level. He also talked about his injuries from the 2012 London games and how he has a “long dark tunnel” ahead of him. But his spirits are building up and he’s looking to compete once again and wants to feel the glory.
It’s nice to see that despite his age, 29 years old, and major injuries that he’s not giving up on his dream. I really hope he makes it back to break the Olympic or World weightlifting record!
Train smart,
