We’ve all been there when the lifts are just going to crap and you can’t hit your numbers. While some Weightlifters like to push through and miss attempt after attempt, as a Coach I believe this is counter productive. Now I’m not saying to quit at the first sign of a bad day, what I am saying is that you may need to back it down a bit.
Drop Down Sets
If you’ve missed attempt after attempt and can’t really find the pull path, I would suggest dropping down the weight. The drop down sets will allow you to re-groove the pattern and if you’re feeling good you can ramp it back up. You can also utilize auxiliary movements such as clean deadlift to high hang to work positioning.
