During your rest periods and/or off days, do you watch or do you analyze the lifts? I hope that you’re analyzing the lifter/lifts, this mentality will help you grasp a better kinesthetic awareness through visual cues.
“Coaching Eye”
It’s really building up what is commonly known as the “Coaching Eye”. This means that you’re a lot more aware of what is going on during the lifts. The snatch and clean & jerk can be a bit overwhelming to look at it, since they are such fast lifts. Build up a stronger “Coaching Eye” and this should help you build a stronger mental image and awareness of what’s going on during your lifts.
Don’t believe me, take this test:
*The more aware you are the easier it is to see the full picture.
For Weightlifting, once a specific position to look for is brought to light, it’ll poke out a lot easier. Once you’ve started to build a stronger eye you can start to create a stronger mental image of a correct lift and hopefully transfer this over to the actually lift. Eventually you come to appreciate the intricacies of a Weightlifting technician, so go out there and find a qualified coach and start ANALYZING movements!
Stay strong,
