Alex G. mentioned the below Ilya Video to me and I thought it would be a great post.
Before you watch it, make sure to fast forward to minute 14:00….and then you can go back to watching the fulll doc 🙂

You’ll see Ilya attempt his snatches at 190 and miss x5 attempts. What most people here will typically do, is either stop or just keep going at it. But what does Ilya’s Coach have him do?
Take it back DOWN to 170k and work up to 180k, 190k, and he hits an easy 196k snatch!
I’m not sure what the video and Coach says, but I thought this was a great representation of fixing the groove. My guys don’t like it when I have them back down and work back up, but if you’re constantly missing X weight there’s something going on. After a few missed reps, it’s best to take it back down and fix the positioning (which is hard to do with heavier weight), if you feel good, you can move back up from there and maybe even hit bigger numbers!
Note: This is clearly dependent on the lifters experience and phase within the program.
