I was looking up some of my videos for the this post and came across Pendlay’s review on the early arm bed. He hit pretty much all the points I wanted to go over so instead of rewriting it all here is his video:
Key Points:
- Be deliberate and take your time initially until you get the positioning.
- I like the complex method to reinforce correct positioning. We do this a LOT and have found it to be very effective. If you’re having this issue you can also add into your warm up routine before you start a heavy day. This should help “re-wire” your system to correctly pull.
Other Methods:
- Snatch dead lift- straight extension – below the knee snatch
- Slow Snatch- here you use VERY light weight, slowly move through the full pull until you are in the double knee bend. This method ensures you’re staying in position throughout the movement.
- Snatch dead lift – below the knee extension- snatch
Depending on what happens to “click” with you, you’ll have to play around with it and go from there. The point being is to focus on a method that will have carry over to correct positioning.
Hope this helps!
Stay strong,
