We all know that Weightlifting is a sport of technique and strength, the balance between the two is key. What I’ve found in training is that many just go through the workout routine as a task list, “1,2,3,4, I’m done!”
This mentality is first an awful thought process for the mere fact that you’re not “in the moment”, focusing on the now. Second because of this you’re not focused on the quality of the rep. While I generally don’t like high reps, I do like to fatigue out my guys and see what they are made of. Do they just fly through the rep to just do it?? OR do they take the time to understand this will translate to a heavier lift, so let’s mimic it as much as possible.
In this case, I’ve had my guys do heavy squats first, followed with 3 points hangs x 2 reps, which equates to 6 reps. I know it’s not conventional, BUT because they are in the base foundation and I want to keep it light, this allows me to pre-fatigue them which will then mimic a pull speed similar to what will happen when they hit heavier weights.
Give it a shot and see what happens, do you crumble under the exhaustion or do you fight through to maintain position?
