If you’re interested in learning more about Olympic Weightlifting you definitely should check out the books below.
Tommy Kono’s “Weightlifting, Olympic Style”
I love this book, it not only gives you great Weightlifting tips such as:
- Programming
- Technique
- Positioning
- Visual Cues
but great stories and a big draw for me was how easily it read. The book was as if Tommy was reading it directly to you, talking about amazing feats such as breaking world records to his time as Mr. Olympia. Definitely a must read, buy this book from his website here.
Encyclopedia of Weightlifting
Literally an encyclopedia, Artie Drechsler wrote pretty much everything to do with Olympic Weightlifting from:
- Competition rules
- Training styles (Russian, Bulgarian, German etc…)
- Various techniques
- Diet
I believe it took over 10 years for Artie to come up with this book and you can tell, as it’s just PACKED full of information. It’s definitely not a coffee book read but if you LOVE Olympic Weightlifting this is a must have.
You can get the book off of amazon from different sellers here.
Russian Texts
If you like reading over the thought process of various Weightlifting philosophies/theories give these a shot:
“A Program of Multi-year Training in Weightlifting”
“A System of Multi Year Training”
“Managing the Training of Weightlifters”
All from EliteFTS.
Just like Artie’s book, they definitely are NOT simple reads but if you have a pretty strong base knowledge of programming and Weightlifting it could be beneficial for you.
Stay strong,
