First good luck to everyone competing at the Junior World Championships in Kazan Russia.
I’m sure many of you guys have really beat up shins and some may see it as a sign of pride and others not so much… Personally I just don’t like my shins constantly bleeding or having to explain why I have drag mark scars on my shin…SO I’ve been playing around with a few different guards. Here’s my review:
Rock Guards
These are probably by far the best shin protection since they fully cover your shins and are well protected. The only issue is they cost about $60 and if you have short shins than it’s a bit annoying to wear. Overall the protection level on these suckas are top notch.

Adidas Calf Compression Sleeve
Personally I like compression sleeves, I feel that they definitely help keep your legs fresh. But for protection, these really don’t do the job. The sleeves are VERY thin, but you can double/triple fold them to cover a few inches of your shin. Some of my weightlifters do this because they don’t like a full cover.
For protection, they’re not very good…for recovery they’re decent.

Como Calf Sleeve
The size of the Como Calf Sleeves were perfect, it covered about half of my shin and felt super light. But they suddenly changed the sizing and it’s a bit on the longer side. The main problem is that they are NOT durable at all! After a few washes the elasticity falls apart and they constantly fall down your shins. Basically stay away from these, you pay for what you get.

Aylio Compression Leg Sleeves
I’m most impressed with the Aylio sleeves. While I’d like them to be shorter they have great protection, it’s not too thick or thin, and they maintain their form. The colors are a bit strange though- yellow, royal blue, neon yellow, red, and white. In my opinion these are the best overall compression sleeves that are light, easy to carry around, don’t stink, give you great shin protection, and their cheap!

That’s it for today.
