Melanie’s Advice
When I seriously hurt my back for the 2nd time (out of 4), I naturally turned to her for advice about getting over an injury and still trying to compete. At the time, my back felt like it was going to explode if I squatted, lifted, sat, pretty much anything…to give you a litte reference of my mindset.
Melanie was kind of enough to give me her advice:
“My advice is to live in the present and enjoy every minute in the gym. Forget about how much is on the bar and focus on the movement. Savor each workout like it is your last. Remember slow and steady wins the race. As far as fear, if you truly live in the present and lift smart you will forget about the potential for injury. My coach always said, “Enjoy the process!” Put in the work each day and let the rest take care of itself.” Melanie
