When it comes to Weightlifting we all know its about positioning. No matter how strong or powerful you are, technical efficiency at high percentages are key.
The problem I find common across new lifters is learning to stay within position, especially with heavy weights somewhere around the 95%+ range. With lighter weights you can get away with over pulling or riding the bar down. But while they may seem very subtle deficiencies at lower percentages, the small unassuming technical flaws become exaggerated ones with higher percentages.
These small change can cause you to miss a lift or potentially injure yourself. This is why it’s so important to focus, not just go through the motions-EVEN with your warm up sets! Too many people take this for granted and don’t realize that the warm up sets are actually primers for you to hit heavier weights…it’s sad that many lifters don’t their take warm ups seriously…
Aside from the fact lifters need to focus on their warm up sets , they also fail to stick to the game plan. I find that many lifters “panic” when they hit the heavier sets, if the was stick to the game plan (positioning and timing) they’ll hit the weight…panic and you’ll most likely miss.
So if you’re an intermediate lifter, this is something that you really need to focus on.
Train smart!
