Olympic weightlifting is such a great sport and relatively easy to train for. All you need is a bar and rounded weights, that’s it! Yet I hear a lot of diva wanna be weightlifters complaining how they workout with CrossFitters, general population meat heads, or the equipment isn’t all that great etc…Ironically these are the same guys ogling over youtube videos…funny things is, if you pay close attention to the vids many of the training gyms aren’t the top of the line facilities you’d think they’d have – it’s just a bar, bumper plates, a rackety squat rack, and a nasty old fan.
I’m not condoning spotting any of the lifts but as you can see, they lift with what they have:
You can see Pat Mendes lifting with a REGULAR bar in a ‘Big Box Commercial Gym’ and I believe Broz’s gym is shared with a CrossFit gym.
The point is that if you want to lift you can lift, all you need is a bar and plates. So stop making excuses and just lift.
