Weightlifters are very prone to injury at the elbow joint, especially during the snatch.
Should Olympic Weightlifters do bicep and tricep work? Is it a waste of time, since we’re not focusing on aesthetics?

To help combat elbow injury I recommend doing arm work. Very unconventional for Olympic Weightlifters to do BUT strengthening the bicep and tricep through isolation work could potentially help stabilize the elbow outside of doing speciality lifts. I know that this isn’t what many people expect to hear but doing high rep tricep work and heavy hammer curls could potentially help you battle elbow injuries. Don’t get me wrong, there are other variables that come into play, but doing arm work is something that is pretty frowned upon Olympic Weightlifters for some reason and from my experience we’ve found it to be beneficial.
Stay strong,
