Ah a 3rd installation of the “Unwritten Rules of Weightlifting”. Let’s cut the BS and go straight to it.
Bar Usage
Most clubs don’t have a plethora of Weightlifting bars to use. So if you’re running late for practice, more than likely the Weightlifting bars will already be loaded. Instead of being a jack ass and unload the weights JUST to use the bar, use the damn squat bar to warm up with.
Warm Up
Like bars, space is very limited for us in NYC. In Part 1 I talked about efficiency on the platform, this includes where you warm up. If there’s a good rotation on the platform with loaded weights, why would you halt the rotation just to warm up on the bar? There are other spots OFF the platform to do so.
Blood on Bar
This is common sense, unless you’re a meatball. If you bleed on the bar, clean it up! It’s that straight forward and simple. Not sure what a Weightlifter is thinking when they leave blood on the bar and than just nonchalantly walks away…
If you need advice on how to clean the bar here a 3 step process:
- Notice blood on the bar? Go get a cleaner and towel.
- Spray the bar and wipe it down.
- Throw towel away.
- Walk out of gym and never come back 🙂
In case you need some more brush up on Weightlifting etiqueete here are Part 1 and Part 2.
